My life has been changed by this recent announcement. I will be unavailable for comment for forty-eight hours while I turn inward and search for the words to describe exactly how my life has been changed.
That’s what I said. That’s what SHE said. Well, nobody said it better than this….
No words are necessary with this post because there ARE no words that can describe, relate or capture the many aspects of this classic Loleatta track.
This is the Salsoul Orchestra original extended 12″ mix and is the highest quality mp3.
Now y’all listen to this entire track right about now.
“Don’t make me send Millie Jackson up in here on you now.”
Today our Shalamar study group examines the sacred trio’s 1982 single,”There It Is” from the album, “Friends.” This is the blessed beat and heavenly sound of Solar Records. Inside the lyrics we find a piece of true dance-floor poetry. Effective, beautiful and transporting, the poem uses a simple simile on top of a sound that seems to smile as it sways softly over it’s central yet unwritten theme, “the sometimes turbulent waters on the ocean of love.”
Here now, the standard King James 12″ version for your notes:
Composers – Nidra Beard, Dana Myers and Charmaine Elaine Sylvers
VERSE 2 –
In the sea of love we set our sails when waters were rough,
Two in search of love with no direction,
Fish were biting at the time when catching wasn’t enough,
We couldn’t make a sport of our affection.
And who would dream that we would sail into each other?
Ooh girl, I never felt the wave of love so strong,
And this love I never felt in any other,
I trust it like a lighthouse guides a ship to land,
I found it when you touched my hand.

Enjoy this barely polished, low quality, Hi-definition disco-pop gem from the German “So gay but not gay” duo, Modern Talking. Learn the lyrics and remember them through the coming year.
You Can Win If You Want, If You Want It You Will Win – mantra
You meaning “I” that is, you are you to me but I am me to myself so when I repeat this disco mantra I say “you” but I mean ” I.” right? wait…who am I again?
Valued readers I wish you all a winning new year filled with one finger piano solos, a bold abuse of bronzer and catchy falsetto backups over a throbbing bass that just makes you feel like, “giddy-up ,giddy’up, giddy-up!”
You can win if you want
If you want it, you will win
On your way you will see that life is more than fantasy
Take my hand, follow me
Oh, you’ve got a brand new friend for your life
FACTOID : Vincent Montana Jr. was the group’s founder, producer, arranger, conductor, primary songwriter and featured soloist. So pretty much a very large portion of all our Disco Classics came right outta this guy right here. Thanks Vince. R.I.P.
In any case – this is thee Salsoul track that will give you extra credit when your DJ and discophile friends are within earshot. Any of the classic disco dances are appropriate here – you could even bust a Lady Kier one foot wobble on this track because it is HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY and Vincent Montana Jr.‘s vibes vibe is clyassy! You can actually hear him singing along to his own playing on this version!
Oooh dat’s jus so classy. Mmmm.
