Left Coast Right Coast Simulhost

What in the world pride?…

I got all jazzed up when The Lady Bunbun alerted me that I might be receiving an invitation to DJ in “The Gay Day “don’t call it a parade it’s a march” Parade on a big, loud, mylar covered corporate float and that I should be watching my inbox carefully. Status on that: Nothin’ yet. I have a few other DJ “gigs I mean appearances” during Pride “I mean World Pride” month though. I will be Dee-Jaying in front of Martin Keehn’s still brand new shop for New York City’s Make Music Day on June 21st from 2:00 to 6:00 PM and that is a wheelchair accessible location so no excuses this time, people. You can roll your ride right down to Ludlow Street and give a little handbrake boogie in celebration of this nationwide musical day that I personally had never heard of until now but am so glad to pretend that I have known about for years. I am bringing the curdless mic so get ready for some antics, shut in shout outs and very important parking restriction announcements.

We are takin dis shit to tha shtreet! Okay? This sidewalk ritch hyere gonna be ah dancerie, chickens. Oh yes…(cluck)

¡MUSICA MAMA! ¡GOZA!….¡AZUUUUUUCAR! Sxcuse me a minute, I have to check my email…nope. Nada Gay Parade Email aqui yet.

Won’t you join us for the sake of the music itself and if not for that then FOR THE SAKE OF THE ENTIRE WORLD which as we all know is made to go ’round by music.

Now keep this on the low but…I heard Patti Labelle is going to be there…I don’t know if that’s true or not, and to tell you the truth I don’t think there is anyway in hell that Patti Labelle is going to be on Ludlow Street anytime soon BUT…..WHAT IF SHE IS???

I will see you there.

Non Credere – Mina – Armen

I don’t know how this got my me, but forgive me for being five years late on this one.

It’s Been Too Long Without Some Mina

Bath House Beats 3 on Spotify

Hope you like ITALO. This is a playlist that is in progress – mostly mid ’80s. Steamy synthesized swish…clean towels and free water. The soundtrack that was the same no matter what city, what country or what continent you happened to be inhabiting that weekend. This is the international sound of gay disco. It plays through the mist that surrounds you now and from the cassette you will take back with you tomorrow. Alone in your premium priced privacy your key bracelet has locked the door and you are secure. Recline and listen hard. Resting and reflecting with eyes toward a ceiling, seeing what you are feeling, you are anywhere at once. You are feeling a new kind of big belonging. Then…

“Attention – Lockers fourteen, nineteen and thirty seven, you must renew. Fourteen, nineteen and thirty seven – you must renew now at the entrance desk.”

(pause)

“Attention, s’il vous plaît – Les casiers 14, 19 et 37 doivent être renouvelés Les casiers quatorze, dix-neuf et trente-sept doivent être remplacés au guichet.”

‘Ouch. That was way too loud.’ Time to take another lap and maybe bum a cigarette. “Wow, this music literally never ends.”

Disco Trek – The Universal Robot Band

When vinyl was the music, this track was a secret weapon of mine. Sister Dimension’s copy was handed down to me and I’ll tell you what – This track at the end of the night when the lights come up will get you a return booking. It’s the ultimate send off into the night for the drunks and still tripping party people. Actually this has to be the last track because nothing can ever be played after it.

This was me every night in my bedroom as a kid. Full flashlight fantasy festivals.

You may download a folder of these tracks directly from me HERE.

DAFFODIL TIME – With Your DJ Billy Beyond

Enjoy an hour of music from the late’20s/early ’30s most of which was recorded in the ’70s. There are quite a few original 78’s in there but when Nelson Riddle recreated the ’20s for The Great Gatsby in 1974 it sounded amazing – not necessarily authentic but clearer and with more dynamics and in stereo! Hellereo! Happy Spring to the right coasters and most of you fly overs. I love this musical vibe in the Springtime. You might too. You may also hate it. Listen and find out.

Joanne Daniels – After The Rainbow 12″ – 1985 Genre Defining Hi-NRG

Pure, vintage eighty-five Hi NRG right here, kids.

Bodymap adopted this track for their show in 1985 and it became our “must dance” track for the season. That year they brought their show to the Palladium in NYC. This track reminds me of those shows, foreign dancefloors, coming home exhausted at dawn and being ready for another night out by sundown.

Hi-NRG. It’ll wear you out.

Streaming Now – Hits of Then

The Early 1900’s Music Preservation Group is streaming their own 24 hour radio- It’s great if you like 78’s, are 78 or don’t want to keep waiting for the release of the new MAC iVictrola. iLove yesteryear. Always have. Did then, do now. They call it” Radio Dismuke.” I call it Radio John Dowd. – It’s a great soundtrack for a summer studio.

More moldy musical masterpieces are coming in a moment! My recently refreshed collection of music from the late ’20s / early ’30s is just about finished. “Daffodil Time” is twenty years old this Spring and sounds just as old as it ever did. Listening to too much of this type of music may induce a state of temporary “nutz.” Be warned and know your limits. – – – – Have you ever tried typing in time to the music pretending that your finger tips are tap shoes or am I the only one that does that? Try it. It’s pretty easy. I’m doing it now. Turn Typing into Tapping! Oooh! CAPS LOCK ball change….

Can someone please call the psych ward for me? I might need another bit of “rest.”

The Soundtrack To Your Spring Cleaning

This mix cleans under carpets – ALL the carpets – This mix doesn’t mind your Meile’s whir overtop and keeps you cleaning through every room. Make Alexa play it upstairs. Dance breaks are inevitable when switching cleaning heads – Keep it clean, people.

Jazzy Squirrels with Beauty And The Bees

They call themselves The Nutty Squirrels but they are actually very jazzy.

Just a little rodent jam to start the week – but then let’s here from the insects’ side…

You Can Catch The Brass Ring Right Here!

I have a little present for you so cheer up. I’m giving you a flawlessly ripped and mastered digital version of an album by The Brass Ring – Love Theme From Flight Of The Phoenix (I know, longer title please.) This record is a state of mind and it’s an excited state, so please, if you are on any kind of uppers or crystal meth or six cups of coffee please BE CAREFUL. Peppy is not the word. Personally I love this album. It gets the house clean if you know what I mean. Musically The Brass Ring were the real deal. Some referred to them as an East Coast Herb Alpert and The Tijuana Brass. Mmm….maybe. The recordings are top notch – This was ripped from a sealed copy and the label is Dunhill Records (class) and the pressing is deep. There is NO REMASTERING on these recordings. Get into it – this is from the needle to the numbers. I just made that up. You can read all about TBR on Wikipedia but nobody is going to do that except me ad Douglas Demille and he’s dead. So it’s time to upgrade your lounge collection, peeps. Get this into your iTunes and blast the bitch. There is so much to listen to on this one, things waaaaay in the back somewhere, things over on the right, things that make you ask – what the hell even was that? You’ll see, but don’t try blaming me later if you have a seizure or just can’t ever get enough of THE BRASS RING because there is no cure for the TBR addiction. I should know, I have been listening to TBR for about 23 years, five months, six days and, what time is it? – Time to play THE BRASS RING AGAIN!!! YAY!!!

DOWNLOAD THE ALBUM HERE

This is a personal link so no funny business like your flash player is out of date or that type of bullshit. Tell your friends! There’s plenty of TBR for everyone here at Billy Beyond Dot Com. If I can just suggest one thing to you though, stereo separation is important to the experiencing of this record’s fine fidelity. Stop looking at me that way. It’s true. Somany bullshit bluetooth (compressed even more) speakers are sadly mono. Nobody wants mono, do you? Stick to two speakers with a space between them and you’ll be glad you did. What we are talking about is dimension is sound. It’s a must. (Did I just ruin it for your new bluetooth speaker? – well, Sorry! You can take it back if you used Amex. Byeeeeee)
