I hope you are all having a really great Spice this year and that you are not getting too stressed out with all the Pumpkin Spice shopping and special events during this year’s Spice. remember – Spice time is delicious, and spicy. Enjoy it. Take a few minutes during each day of the 2016 P.S. and just think about Cardamon and maybe sending your mom-a-card. Nutmeg lasts forever! You only need a tiny bit, and Cinnamon is cheap as hell so use tons. Also, don’t forget all about allspice! – which…what the hell is that anyway? I could google it, but I’m not going to. Not this year, my friend. Maybe next year’s Spice!  I’m getting ready for it already! Also, Happy Valentines day and please have a wonderful Christmas if you still celebrate that one.  Who’s being what for Spice-O-Ween this year? Black body suit and masking tape is Skeleton. That’s a free hint for you. I worked as a costume designer on a VERY popular TV series you know…I know about costumes. I wear one everyday. I’m wearing one now.

Old Way and Willi Ninja Forever

Old way

Old way is characterized by the formation of lines, symmetry, and precision in the execution of formations with graceful, fluid-like action. Egyptian hieroglyphs and fashion poses serve as the original inspirations for old way voguing. In its purest, historical form, old way vogue is a duel between two rivals. Traditionally, old way rules dictated that one rival must “pin” the other to win the contest. Pinning involved the trapping of an opponent so that he or she could not execute any movements while the adversary was still in motion (usually voguing movements with the arms and hands called “conflama” while the opponent was held against the floor doing “floor work” or against a wall).

I miss Willi. The whole world misses Willi.

While he didn’t create the form, he worked at refining it with clean, sharp movements to “an amazing level”. His influences included Fred Astaire, olympic gymnasts, and Asian culture in general. Willi Ninja, an inspiration to me…R.I.P.
